We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Architect to oversee the maintenance and optimization of our Ruby on Rails application, which is integrated with MySQL backend and various microservices on both AWS (Amazon Web Services) and GCP (Google Cloud Platform). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ruby on Rails development, database management, microservices architecture, and cloud infrastructure.

In this role, you will…

1. System Maintenance and Optimization:

· Lead efforts to maintain and optimize the performance, scalability, and reliability of our Ruby on Rails application.

· Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure minimal downtime and maximum performance.

2. Database Management:

· Manage the MySQL database backend, including schema design, query optimization, and data migration tasks.

· Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data.

3. Microservices Integration:

· Oversee the integration of microservices into the application architecture, ensuring seamless communication and efficient data exchange between components.

· Design and implement APIs for microservices interaction, adhering to best practices for security and performance.

4. Cloud Infrastructure Management:

· Collaborate with the DevOps team to manage the deployment and scaling of application components on AWS and GCP.

· Optimize cloud infrastructure resources to balance performance, cost, and scalability requirements.

5. Technical Leadership:

· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the development team, promoting best practices and ensuring adherence to architectural standards.

· Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on our architecture and recommending appropriate solutions.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

· Maintain comprehensive documentation of system architecture, configurations, and processes.

· Generate regular reports on system performance, uptime, and security compliance.

You've got what it takes if you have…

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

· Extensive experience (5 years) in Ruby on Rails development, with a deep understanding of its principles and best practices.

· Proficiency in MySQL database administration, including schema design, optimization, and maintenance.

· Strong understanding of microservices architecture patterns and experience integrating microservices into complex applications.

· Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP, including deploying and managing infrastructure using services like EC2, RDS, Lambda, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), etc.

· Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).

· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

· Strong communication and leadership abilities, with a track record of effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.

An extra dose of awesome if you have...

· Experience with other programming languages and frameworks, such as Python, Node.js, etc.

· Certification in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Certified Professional Architect).

· Previous experience in a senior or lead architect role within a similar technology stack.
